What kinds of things should I expect

Communal Fire Pit

As an event we supply fire wood for a fire pit on our main site where the majority of our activities are held.

Activities

Throughout the weekend we have multiple activities that take place, some of them are at scheduled times and others happen freely all weekend long.  Some examples of those activities we have had before are: Hiking, Talent Shows, Card Games, Lawn Games and Telescope Viewing.

Event Size

Each year we are growing and with that we choose our camp locations very carefully, though each campground does have a max capacity.  We normally take over the entire group campground so our attendees can enjoy themselves.  Expect around 100+ campers throughout our multiple sites.

What Should I bring

Tent Or Hammock

We recomend bringing either a tent or hammock along with a rainfly.

Personal Items

Sunscreen, bug spray, hats, extra changes of clothes and toiletries are great items to bring along.

Event Questions

How do I register?

Go to the Registration tab on this site and Click Register now!

Will I have to bring my own food?

Yes, as per the nature of the event It’s Ruff Out is not able to provide food for attendees.

Will there be ice?

No. You will need to bring your own.

Can I bring my own firewood, or do I need to purchase my own?

No Wisconsin DNR does not allow firewood to be brought in from out of the park. Ruff Out Registration however does cover the cost of firewood. Collecting dead fallen wood around the state park is allowed but cutting down anything still standing is prohibited.

Can we use campout cooking gear to make our own food?

No. Due to health regulations, we are not allowed to use cooking items or utensils to prepare food brought by others. If you require cooking supplies to make your own food, you should bring the supplies you need.

Are pets allowed?

Yes. State Park rules must be followed but pets are allowed so long as they are not vicious or violate any reasonable limitations on exotic animals.  Of course, you are responsible for this pet, their care and any cleanup and you may not leave them alone at anytime.

Are fursuits allowed?

Of course! Just remember, this is camping, so the ground might be wet or muddy. Keep this in mind when suiting.

Are RV's allowed?

Not every state park group campground we use is RV freindly so we encourage tents and hammocks.  If we are at a group campground that is RV friendly we do ask that if they are brought that they be smaller in size like popups or teardrop campers.

Is there a store nearby in case I forgot something?

The nearest Wallmart is about 20 min north from the park.

Is this an 18+ event?

Due to Wisconsin DNR rules attendees must be 18 years of age by the start of camp

So, I hear stories and rumors about furry camping events... is this like that?

We are not unique as there are many Furry Camping trips all over the US. We are one of the only ones in the Midwest. Each event is ran by different people and we are not ran by other events. Ergo their policies and issues are their own and do not reflect upon our event. The goal is to have a fun community event.

What's the policy on inappropriate attire/gear?

The campground is a public park. That means if you would not wear it in public, you may not wear it here. It must be kept out of the public view at all times. Campout Coordinators may request you to change at anytime if it’s deemed inappropriate for our event. We want to be welcomed back.

Does registration include a state park vehicle pass?

State Park vehicle admission is to be covered by attendees and is not included in the cost of registration. To order a State Park sticker please visit here

Campground Questions

How do we reserve a campsite?

There is no need to reserve a campsite as registration allows access to the group site It’s Ruff Out will be hosted on

Is alcohol allowed at the campground?

Yes. You may bring your own alcohol. However, you are expected to be responsible with it. Drunkenness is not an excuse for bad behavior. Likewise, it is up to you to ensure that anyone you share with is over 21.

Will there be electrical hookup at the site?

It’s Ruff Out will typically have group sites that do not have electric hookups so be prepared to use battery packs.

Is there water available?

Typically yes, most of the state parks do have water on site.

My water tastes like Iron?

Some of our campsites water supply may have a mineral taste to the water, don’t worry the water is still fine though some may not like the taste.  One way to help with this is if the water has a higher mineral content let it sit for an hour or two and the taste typically mellows out, this is common with water from wells

Does the camp enforce a quiet time?

Yes! Quiet Hours start every night at 10PM.

Is swimming, fishing, hiking or other outdoor activities available?

Yes, there are a decent number of trails you can walk, we are next to a lake so fishing, kayaking or canoeing are all options and we encourage you to bring stuff to use these!
